Coaching Quest
Write your coaching story through these 11 lessons and questsA Helping Hand 1
We all need a helping hand when we are embarking on a path we haven’t travelled before, and that help can come in many forms.
In the Neverending Story that was absolutely true – who remembers the Falcor the Luckdragon and Morla the Giant Turtle? Or Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2D2 in Star Wars?
Help comes in many forms for your coaching business too; from outsourcing to mentors, referral partners to masterminds. Over the course of the next two lessons we will take a look at a couple of ways that you can get a helping hand to boost your profile and make sure that you are not stuck in the pitfalls we just looked at.
First up let’s talk about media.
One of the best ways to build your credibility and get noticed is to get featured in the media. Whether it’s print media, or guest blog posts, podcasts or radio shows, magazines or media outlets, the great thing about media features is that once you have done them, you can brag about them forever.
Remember that tantrum I was talking about a few lessons ago that resulted in me turning my model on its head?
Well it was at that time that I decided to focus more on raising my profile than building my mailing list.
Here are 10 Things I Did Instead of Listbuilding:
- I spent a lot of time in Facebook Groups connecting with people
- I got really clear on who my premium client was
- I asked to contribute to the blogs of people who had a shared audience with me
- I had LOTS of virtual coffee dates
- I asked for referrals
- I asked for testimonials from clients and endorsements from mentors
- I guested on a number of podcasts
- I offered a different point of view (which got me noticed)
- I carried out market research interviews
- I invited serious prospects to a conversation instead of pushing them through a convoluted funnel
Getting booked really makes a difference. And if you are getting to the stage of building your website, then you will be able to add them to it so that visitors can see that other people love what you have to say.
The key to getting booked is to treat the outlet you want to feature in like a client. Get to know them, get to know what’s most important to them, and how you can help.
