COACHING SKILLS 2 – THE ART OF MASTERFUL COACHING

Most of what makes coaching “life-changing” and “mind-blowing” is unseen.  In this module we explore the skills of active listening, rapport building and using silence as a powerful tool.  This is where your coaching skills take a turbo boost.

Next time you are in a conversation with someone, try listening from each of the perceptual positions and note what you notice: 1st Position – the one we are most familiar with is our own perspective. What’s going on for me? What’s most important to me? What do I need from this interaction?

2nd Position – begin listening from the 2nd perceptual position. What do you think is important for the other person? What do they need from the interaction? What’s important for them? What is their body language telling you? What about the speed, pitch and tone of their voice?

And then, have a go at almost looking at the conversation from out-of-body so that you can imagine you looking down at you and the other person 3rd Position – what do you notice about non-verbal cues? What is the big picture? What needs to happen here for both parties to feel heard and acknowledged?

In the next module we will be looking at Limiting Beliefs.  Identifying your client or team members’ limiting beliefs give them the greatest opportunity for change. The thing is, that most people are not even aware of these blocks and obstacles.

You’ll learn:

  • What limiting beliefs are, how they are formed, why they are so dangerous and how to identify and collapse them
  • How to identify clients’ limiting beliefs through their language
  • How to elegantly challenge limiting beliefs and collapse them so they no longer hold your client back

And you’ll no longer:

  • Feel the frustration of knowing that there is a block, but not knowing what to do about it
